Our reigning Special Olympics UK Champion, Bethany Paull trains at VGA Crumlin site within a novice squad group as well as disability squad on Saturdays. Bethany recently went to West Wales and Scotland to train in preparation to the Special Olympics taking place in Abu Dhabi next year - Bethany certainly has an exciting year ahead!
November will be brining Gymspire competitions where VGA will be entering into the disability competition with Shauna and Mia. This is very exciting for both gymnasts as will be their first time taking part in this competition. Good luck girls in your training, girls!
VGA has recently started working with local specialist schools to provide school gymnastics sessions to help with their fundamental skills, physical literacy and motor skills. They will be working towards the Welsh School Rotary competition after Christmas. If you know of any schools which may be interested in working with VGA please just let us know, or direct the Head Teacher to the VGA website.
VGA’s Club and Elite boys have been busy competing at the prestigious London Open and the Welsh NDP event. The boys had excellent competitions, picking up a whole host of medals. Particular highlights were Ben Scourse picking up AA bronze in London and following this up with AA gold in Cardiff at the Welsh, Harvey Gough and Charlie Williams both picking up several apparatus medals in London and Ellis Barber taking AA 4th in London and AA gold in Cardiff. We are delighted that 8 of our boys will now be representing the Welsh region at the British NDP Club and Elite Finals taking place in November. Based on their competition results Ben Scourse and Harrison Harris were selected to attend a Welsh training camp in Portugal at the end of the month.
VGA shall be hosting a Gymnastics Awareness Day which will be fully inclusive to all ages and abilities. To find out more about this event please visit the Valleys Gymnastics Academy Facebook page here :https://www.facebook.com/ValleysGymnasticsAcademy
