ABOUT US

Valleys Gymnastics Academy (VGA) was formed in 2011 as a result of a merger between Abertillery Gymnastics Club and the Ebbw Vale based Valleys Gymnastics Academy. Starting with a membership of just over 100, the club has grown significantly over recent years and now boasts a membership of 2500+ - and is one of the largest in the UK. Established as a Limited Company, with social and community aims underpinning the ethos and operating culture of the club, VGA has become vibrant and visible community hub across South East and Central Wales. In recognition of this, VGA won the ‘Consumer Facing’ category at 2017 Social Business Wales awards. Valleys Gymnastics Academy was also the Club of the Year runner up in the 2016 and 2017 British Gymnastics Annual Awards - before winning the top gong in the 2020, as well as the British Gymnastics Award for Equality and Inclusion (in 2020 and 2021).

As a member of British Gymnastics and Welsh Gymnastics, VGA works closely with its governing bodies, as well as a range of partners who support the organisation in developing and delivering high quality opportunities for its members. The club delivers specialist, fully inclusive opportunities and as a mark of this has been awarded GymMark (British Gymnastics) and Disability Sport Wales Bronze accreditation.

The club was awarded Welsh Gymnastics Club of the Year in 2014 and 2016, and was the British Gymnastics’ runner up in the Club Award category in 2014 and 2015. These awards and nominations were for the outstanding work VGA do on a daily basis promoting the sport and physical activity across the regions, as well as the high level of competitive and performance gymnastics delivered.
