VOLUNTEERING
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of community sport”

VGA is run by a large team of staff and volunteers, and we are always looking for new volunteers aged 14 and upwards who would like to join our team. If you have admin / business skills or coaching experience and think that you could make a valuable contribution to the club please just ask at reception and see how you could get involved. We also welcome individuals who feel that they would like to develop new skills or update old ones – everyone is welcome – and many of our current team had no coaching experience before they became involved at VGA. We offer the following volunteering roles and will provide all relevant training free of charge for committed individuals: coaching, judging, admin, reception, welfare, general volunteer, competition volunteer.

We are linked to GWIRVOL Millennium Volunteers and offer MV50 Sport, MV100 and MV200 awards which are nationally recognised certificates and can be displayed on job applications or CVs to demonstrate to potential employers the contribution that you make. Several of our volunteers have gone on to gain paid employment after gaining experience at VGA. Please note that all volunteers will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (criminal records) check.

Whilst you’ll want to make a real difference when you volunteer, it’s not just about what you can do for others. Volunteers get a lot out of the experience too – it is a great opportunity to boost your skills, self esteem, fitness and social circle!
