Children need to be active every day to promote their healthy growth and development. Those who establish healthy lifestyle patterns at a young age will carry them - and their benefits - forward for the rest of their lives - and this is important to us at VGA. For youngsters, there are many benefits to be gained - including the role of physical activity in helping children to be ’school ready.'
Our fully qualified, enthusiastic and specially qualified team of coaches provide a range of fun-filled classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers of all ages and provide an excellent introduction to physical activity! Our classes are highly recommended: “I've been taking my granddaughter for two years. To say she loves going to both the structured and drop in toddler sessions is an understatement. I would recommend this to all parents and grandparents of toddlers- keep up the great work VGA!”
Music and movement (Wednesdays 1.30pm at VGA Crumlin and Mondays 1.30pm at Skills4Life Abertillery) is a perfect for babies from 3 months upwards, as well as toddlers who enjoy singing, dancing, climbing and exploring. A review from one of our recent members is extremely positive: “I took my 5 month old along to the music and movement session for the first time today. She absolutely loved it, especially the instructor, Luke, he is so animated, she was mesmerised!” These classes provide a perfect introduction for little ones. There is no need to book for these classes, you are welcome to pop along. Please note that these classes do not run in school holidays.
Our pre-school drop-in sessions are suitable for those from walking age to 4 years and give little ones the chance to explore all of our large and small equipment, trampolines and foam pits alongside their carers. Our coaches are on hand to encourage and offer advice. Through these play sessions, pre-schoolers will develop their confidence, coordination, balance and movement skills. These classes run Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (10.30) from VGA Crumlin – and also burn off some of their excess energy. We also run a range of sessions from our Skills4Life venue in Abertillery Leisure Centre and from Merthyr Leisure Centre (10.00 Friday mornings) - so please take a look at our Facebook page for more information.
These sessions are extremely popular and are a great introduction to gymnastics – as well as a fantastic way to engage in active play with your little one and to socialise with other parents / carers. There is no need to book any of these classes but please note that there are usually changes to the schedule in the school holidays.
