Cardiff MET PhD Research Project Success

We are delighted to announce that Ellyse Hopkins has successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled "The ‘double jeopardy' of practice: changing relationships between physical activity and young women from disadvantaged areas”

The project was completed in partnership with Valleys Gymnastics Academy (building upon our work with StreetGames) and KESS2 and was praised by the examiners for making novel contributions to the fields of study in practice theory, physical activity, and public health. Ellyse gave an outstanding performance during the viva, with the panel complimenting not just the depth and criticality of her answers, but also the composure, maturity, and humility that she displayed throughout.

Ellyse was a credit to herself, her supervisory team, and the CSSHS Doctoral Research community and we are extremely proud to be continually adding to our organisation’s body of knowledge!
